Pure thermoplastic resin, mixture of Plexisol P 550 and Plexigum 675, flatted with pyrogene silica, at 32% solids in white spirit. It can be used as a light proof and age resistant matt varnish on oil and acrylic paintings, tempera and gouache paintings, etc. For the acrylic varnish 550/675 mat, spray applications are recommended. The varnish solution for spraying should not exceed 10-12% solids in white spirit, depending on the type of spray equipment. Spray application should be carried out in several layers and not too wet, until an even low gloss is obtained. Brush applications are possible on small objects only. In this case, solutions of 15-20% solids in white spirit are recommended. Care should be taken that the support is not absorbent when spraying deep matt varnishes. Otherwise the matting agent might be filtered out onto the support. |
