COLOPHONY RESIN

Colophony rosin is tree rosin sold in lump form.

In fine art, colophony rosin can be used for creating tempera emulsions and as painting mediums for oil paintings.  It is soluble in turpentine and turpentine substitutes.

In printmaking, aquatint rosin is used on etching plates in order to create surfaces in gray tones.
